Everyone with grass in their lawn wants it to look bright, green, and bushy. This is not possible without hard work.

The lawn is one of the most difficult plants in the garden. However, if you follow the rules and do it consistently, your lawn will thrive. You must also choose the right variety of grass.

Every season has its own needs. In winter, grass seedlings need minimal care. However, with spring arriving and rising temperatures, lawns need to be more attentive.

We will be discussing 5 key tasks to ensure your lawn stays in great condition. Your garden will look perfect and have the green, fresh carpet you want. Another caring lawn tip is, that you should know how to stop squirrels from digging in yard.

Lawn Mowing

As soon as the grass wakes up from its winter dormancy, it begins to grow. You will indeed have seen it in spring. Regular mowing is a must. It helps thicken the grass and makes it look bushy.

How should the grass be cut? To cut the grass little and often is the idea. At the beginning of the season, every 15 days is sufficient, but during summer, when the grass is at its best, you will need to do it every week.

The height of the cut will depend on many factors, including climate and use. However, a good height is 3 to 5 centimeters. It is better to leave the cut at the highest possible level. This is about 5-6 cm. With taller grass, less water is evaporating from the ground.

Lawn Fertilizers

Like all plants, the lawn gets nutrients from nature, which must be replenished with fertilizers. Three types of fertilizers can be used for properties: powdered, liquid, and granules.

Follow the instructions and use the correct fertilizer. A little would be enough, but too much could cause the lawn to burn. You should not fertilize wet grass as the fertilizer could stick to the leaves and cause them to burn.

Lawn Irrigation

Irrigation will be essential for a vibrant and shiny lawn. It all depends on the weather conditions. In winter, it is less important to water, while spring watering needs are increased. As the summer progresses, the frequency of watering increases. When it cools off, watering is decreased again in autumn.

It will tell you when your lawn needs to be watered. When it is thirsty, its lawn’s leaves turn dull and languish color. If the ground dries out a lot, then the leaves dry out and become brown.

You can water your lawn by hand or with a hose as long as you do it regularly. However, an automatic system is better to save time and maintain the consistency of the grass.

Eliminate Weeds

The weeds between the grass make the surface of the ground look ugly and compete for nutrients. They can also take over the land if they are not removed at the right time.

It is possible to remove them by manually extracting as much root as you can. This method includes clover, dandelion, and others. Herbicides may be used if the infestation is severe or if they are small plants we can’t get rid of manually.

Although many people have not used them, sometimes few people do like the occasional weed on their lawn. However, this depends on how much each one is being demanded.

Scarifying and Aeration

These two steps are necessary to ensure the roots of your grass get the oxygen they need and grow. You will need to poke the soil surface, make small holes and then add the sand. This will prevent the soil from becoming too compacted.

Scarification is a method that removes the soil layer of leaves and herbs. It also prevents water from entering the ground.

These processes are usually carried out in spring and fall. These tasks can be done correctly to create a healthy and beautiful lawn. One that doesn’t get thirsty, one that can grow well, and one that isn’t irritated so it doesn’t catch fungal diseases.

If the theory is true, then it’s the practice. If your lawn is not in perfect condition there is no harm in trying these techniques.
