Winter season is known for lip-smacking foods. Therefore, there is a need to grow vegetables for various delicacies. Here we bring you different vegetables for easier production, which will help you in profitable income and create numerous dishes. 

List Of Winter Season Vegetables To Grow In Winter Season:-


Capsicum can be planted in the winter season. To grow capsicum, plants must first be prepared from its seeds. Moreover, you can buy good quality capsicum seeds to prepare the plant. To plant chilli seeds, you take any seedling tray or pot and spread the chilli seeds on top of it. Then, plant capsicum seeds at half to 1 cm depth and give water to them. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for the plants to be ready from capsicum seeds. After this, you plant these plants in any big pot whose size is 12 x 12 inches.

After about 60-65 days, you will start getting capsicum to pluck. Capsicum is planted in the cold season, so its plant needs less water and more sunlight, so you have to give less water to the capsicum plant and keep it in a sunny place.


Peas also belong to the family of beans, and you can grow them in the winter season. Green pea plants are delicate, as they do not like hot and humid climates. Cold and dry weather is ideal for green peas to grow well. Pea seeds are planted directly in grow bags or pots. The green pea plant is a vine and requires the support of a net. For this, you can put a creeper net on your terrace. The pods start breaking for the first time 80 to 90 days after planting their seeds. After that, you can pluck the beans from a pea plant three to four times.


You can also plant spinach in the winter season. It is a leafy vegetable that grows easily in winter and in all seasons. Whatever soil you have for planting spinach, mix good organic manure, spread the spinach seeds on top and water after covering it with soil from above. You can use a spray bottle for watering. Your spinach seeds will germinate about 6 to 8 days after watering, and spinach is ready to harvest very quickly. After about 4 to 5 weeks, you will get to break the first leaf of spinach.

You can harvest spinach two to three times. If you keep plucking its leaves, then after about 7 to 10 days, you will get to pluck its leaves again. Along with spinach, you can also plant other similar leafy vegetables in the winter, including leafy vegetables like amaranth, Lettuce, coriander, fenugreek, and Sarson saag.


Carrot is one of the most famous veggies planted in the winter season. There are wide varieties of carrots that vary in colour, texture, size and length. Carrot seeds are planted directly in the grow bag or pot, and there is no need to prepare the plant for planting. Carrots are ready to be removed from the soil 80 to 100 days after sowing, depending on the variety. While preparing the potting mix, break the ground finely and add sand and cocopeat to loosen it to avoid any obstruction to the root of the carrot.


In India, you can plant onions in the winter, the best time to grow onions. You should first prepare its plant from onion seeds, and these plants are ready in about a month from seeding. You can then transfer the onion plants to a larger grow bag. Onion plants require full sunlight. So keep giving these plants an adequate amount of water. Onions are ready to harvest 3-months after planting, depending on the variety of onions.


Tomato is used in all homes, and you can also grow it at your home in cold weather. There are wide different varieties of tomatoes, so buy the seeds of whatever variety you want to plant. To plant tomatoes, plants are prepared from their seeds first. To prepare the plant, the tomato seeds must be scattered over the soil and given water. Also, you can sow seeds with the help of a Seed Drill. Tomato seeds germinate very quickly with light moisture retention, and in about 2 to 3 weeks, tomato plants are ready to be transplanted to larger grow bags or pots. Tomatoes like full sunlight. 6 to 8 hours of sunlight is sufficient for the tomato plant, and you can keep it in a semi-sed area.

About 70 to 80 days after planting tomatoes, you start getting tomatoes to pluck. Moreover, for tomatoes to grow well, you must change the organic fertiliser every month. Many types of diseases can occur in tomato plants, so pesticides, clove oil or neem oil can be used to prevent tomato plants from diseases and pests. You can also plant radish in the winter season. It is very easy to grow radish in a pot at home. You can plant its seeds directly in a pot or grow bag. To plant radish, spread its seeds on top of any pot and cover it with soil. If the soil moisture is maintained correctly, you will see that the little radish plants will start coming out of the land in a few days. This is because their plants need open sunlight. Apart from the root of the radish, its leaves are also used as a vegetable. About 50 to 60 days after planting the radish, you will get the radish uprooting, which you can use in your kitchen.


You can also produce Lettuce in the winter season. This is a trendy leaf, which you will find in wide varieties such as  Iceberg Lettuce, Lollo Rosso Lettuce etc. Since you do not get this fresh vegetable easily in the markets, you can grow it in your home garden or terrace garden in the winter. You can plant lettuce seeds directly in your pot or grow bag. You will be able to harvest lettuce 45 to 60 days after planting.


Cabbage is a popular vegetable which is planted in the winter season. For planting cabbage, the plants are prepared by first planting the seeds in the seedling tray. It will take 2 weeks for the cabbage seeds to germinate. Plants are ready for transplant after 4 to 6 weeks of seed planting. After this, these plants are planted in big grow bags or pots. Cabbage plants can be grown well in 12 x 12 inch grow bags. Cabbage plants require a cool climate and full light. After 95 to 150 days of seed planting, the cabbage flower becomes quite large and is ready for plucking.

Coriander Seeds

Coriander is used as a spice. Moreover, you can grow coriander leaves in the winter season on your terrace garden. Coriander is easy to produce and can be grown in freezing weather. To grow coriander, you need to get good quality seeds. You place the seeds on top of the pot’s soil or grow bag and cover them with a light layer of soil. Coriander seeds germinate about 7 to 10 days after sowing the seeds, and after about 35 to 40 days, you will start getting the coriander leaves to pluck.

Green Chillies

You can also plant chillies in the winter season. To grow chillies, its plants have to be prepared. Moreover, you can buy good quality chilli seeds to prepare the plant. To plant chilli seeds, you take any seedling tray or pot, sprinkle the chilli seeds in it and water after covering it with a layer of soil half to 1 cm. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for the plants to grow from chilli seeds. After 20 to 25 days, plant these plants in any big pot whose size is 12 by 12 inches. After about 60 days, you will start getting the chillies to pluck.


You can also plant gourds in the winter season. Although gourds can be grown in the home garden throughout the year, winter gourds are best. To plant gourds, you directly plant two gourd seeds in a pot or increase the size to 15 x 15 inches or a bigger bag. You must keep only one gourd plant in a pot when the gourd plants grow a bit. Moreover, about 60 days after planting gourds, we start getting gourd plucking. Gourd does not cause many diseases, but there is a problem with pollination in the gourd, so always keep in mind that 2 to 4 gourd plants must be planted so that the gourd plant can be pollinated appropriately, and you get to harvest a lot of gourds.
